Green manure program

Positive effects of the use of green manure are as follows:

  • with green manure crops, we can accomplish more continuous ground-covering during the time between the growing of two major plants, hence considerably reducing soil erosion.
  • unlike cereals, green manure crops grow deep roots, thereby keeping the soil loose also in the deeper layers, maintaining the active soil biology, feeding microorganisms, bringing up nutrients from deeper soil layer.

The nutrients incorporated into the body of these green manure crops can be utilized by ploughing them into the soil. We can use this to advance the nutrient management of the succeeding crops.

Our seed supply includes the following green manure crops: mustard, phacelia, fodder radish, crimson clover.
